Olubunmi Akinyemi – Three Traits all Project Managers Must Possess

Akinyemi has trained as a Project Manager for many years. He earned a Master’s degree in Project Management from George Washington University and has used his skills to start businesses in both the United States and his native Nigeria. Akinyemi also worked as a business consultant for many years and for many different clients in several sectors during his career. He now owns Jungle Fitness in downtown Atlanta, and it wouldn’t have been a successful company without these three essential Project Manager traits:

  • Emotional Intelligence. Good Project Managers can read people and read the mood of a room. This isn’t just being able to take people’s money at the poker table, it’s about learning about human behavior and seeing the signs of a reaction or concern before it becomes a potential problem in the future.
  • Unafraid to seek help. Olubunmi Akinyemi was never shy about asking for help. He developed enough confidence in his abilities as a Project Manager to learn from others and by seeking the guidance of more experienced managers whenever possible. This help can be essential to your career as a Project Manager.
  • Willing to take on responsibility without authority. Olubunmi Akinyemi always showed that he was ready to manage his own business because he was willing to show the initiative and find ways to take more responsibility without needing power and authority that comes with it. If you can help your company by taking on more responsibility, the authority will come on its own.

Olubunmi Akinyemi uses his Project Management skills every day as the owner of Jungle Fitness.
